Mysore and Full Primary with Magnolia Zuniga
Magnolia
Zuniga
Magnolia attended her first yoga class in 1990. She moved to Los Angeles in
1994 and began studying Ashtanga Yoga under the guidance of Noah Williams
and Kimberly Flynn. By 2001 she moved to the San Francisco Bay area to study
Non-Dual Tantra, and Ayurveda within the Saraswati lineage (Swami Sivananda,
Swami Satyananda, Swami Rudrananda). It was during this time that she began
to understand the true nature of the teacher-student relationship. It's a
relationship involving love, trust and responsibility. It's a choice to
extend beyond the horizons of the mind.
In 2004, Magnolia traveled to Mysore, South India and met Sri K. Pattabhi
Jois and his grandson Sharath Rangaswamy. She currently still continues studying
Ashtanga Yoga with Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Rangaswamy. Tantra and
Ayurveda continue to be the foundation of her life; an on going practice of
perception into the self and ultimately into the world.
Ashtanga Mysore-Style
In Mysore Style classes the teacher acts as a facilitator, guiding the
individual via verbal and physical adjustments. This manner of teaching from
one teacher to one student is the traditional style of teaching within the
Ashtanga Yoga lineage and has been taught this way for thousands of years.
Each person is taught individually and progressively according to his or her
needs. This method allows the teacher to tailor the practice to the student.
It also teaches one to develop his or her own personal practice and
ultimately to develop a sense of autonomy. Mysore Style classes are for
those new to yoga or who have practiced yoga for many years. In either case,
it is for those who are ready or wanting to find a practice that suits their
own needs.
